Patternicity- an intricate love affair between data visualization and regular patterns.

Recently Maria Popova’s Brainpicking picked my brain exposing me to a whole range visualization which is hidden behind the corporate data visualization decks.  Data Visualization is the technique of presenting huge amount of data in a simplified pictorial format –where inferences can be drawn within matter of seconds. Data analysts and Data scientists have done ample of research to come up with compelling data stories and we also have powerful tools like Tableau to built interesting stories around data sets.

In the past I have created innumerable storyboards with Tableau but the recent post my Maria opened my mind to the simplicity of visualization and beauty of pattern in storyboarding. Turkish industrial designer and School of Visual Arts graduate student Yasemin Uyar had delved into this complex relationship between Patterns, texture and a beautiful story it has to share with us. The following images originally appear on  Patternicity Project

This post is dedicated to the beauty and mystry of storytelling and texture.
